John received his chemical engineering degree from Manhattan College in New York (B.E., magna cum laude, 1978), where he received Tau Beta Pi honors. His law degree is from Pace University (J.D., 1985), where he was an editor of the Environmental Law Review. John has been registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office since 1987. Prior to beginning his career in law, John was employed by Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. and Union Carbide Corporation in a variety of engineering positions. John has over 14 years of experience in U.S. and international patent enforcement, prosecution, and litigation, particularly in foreign oppositions of biotechnology and chemical patents. John's practice centers on protecting, enforcing and licensing intellectual property rights, particularly in the biotechnology, chemical and mechanical areas or sectors. He has litigated patent cases involving oligonucleotides synthesis, genetic antisense, mechanical devices and chemical coatings and pigments. He also has substantial experience in providing both formal and informal patent validity and infringement opinions and portfolio analyses, and in negotiating patent licenses. |
